Visiting Campus


Visitors to our campus and department are welcome. Prospective student visits typically are coordinated through the Student Services Assistant, and appointments are scheduled with the Chair, the Director of Graduate Admissions, the Director of Graduate Studies, and other faculty in the student's particular field of interest, as well as current students.


The Department of Geological Sciences is housed in Elisha Mitchell Hall on South Columbia Street, and is within walking distance of visitor parking lots.



Visitors also are encouraged to take a walking tour of the campus and to become acquainted with Chapel Hill. The campus and town are especially beautiful in the spring and fall.
